Level 2 Online Course Redesign and Development

This program is for developing and improving your existing online course. If you want to build a new online course from the ground up, go to Level 1.

The assumptions for this program are as follows:

  1. You have completed or have been waived from the Online Teaching Certification Requirement.
  2. You have built and/or taught an online course in the past two academic years.
  3. The course you want to develop further has been taught online at least one semester prior to the application.
  4. You have read and understand the stipend and compensation policies for the program.

A course "redesign" seeks to improve on not just the course appearance or basic format, but specific teaching practices related to your course goals and learner outcomes. The Level 2 program assumes basic working familiarity with Blackboard, and the focus is not so much on technology as it is in creating more effective practice in the areas of content/information, communications and learning, and assessment/feedback for learners. If you understand and agree with this, please continue and register.

Program/Course Overview:

This course uses the OLC OSCQR rubric (read about the OSCQR program) to review the course, identify areas needed for further development or additions, and to help you develop an action plan to organize the course revision activities. You will only be responsible for completing those revisions identified through the OSCQR review process. This can range from fairly light changes to more substantial course revisions depending on the results of the review. The OSCQR review process at Upstate uses both self-review of your course, and external review by at least one other faculty member trained in the rubric.
